Your step-by-step guide

Here's your guide for using the Truid identity and authentication app.

For any questions or assistance, please visit our user help page.

Interacting with the service?

If you are logging in, verifying your identity, or signing a document with a specific service, begin the process on the service’s website or app by clicking a button or scanning a QR code from your desktop.

After downloading the app, we will fetch the right context to guide you through the process, allowing you to continue at the service from where you started.

Ensure that the name and logo match the service you are interacting with.

1

Download the app

The Truid app is available in App Store and Google Play Store.

2

Set up your vault

In the Truid app, you will have a personal vault (identity wallet) where your uploaded and verified data is securely stored and can be reused. All data in the vault is encrypted, with keys stored on your device, ensuring that no one can access it without your consent.

To set up your vault, the first step is to read and accept Truid’s terms of use, then create a PIN to protect your data.

Build your identity

The steps in “Building your identity” could differ depending on what type of contact- and identity data the service is requesting.

Typically services ask for an ID document and email or phone number.

1

Scan your ID document

Select the type of document you want to use: Passport, ID Card or Driving License. We recommend using an ID document with a chip, as it is more secure and provides a more seamless user experience.

Documents with an integrated RFID chip typically display this symbol:

The app will need permission to use your camera to capture the document. Ensure the front page of the document fits within the square on the camera screen, and you should see a green frame like in the example image.

The most common reasons we may fail to read the document are glare and poor lighting, which can make it difficult to capture all the necessary data. We highly recommend that you try again.

2

Perform face match and liveness check

  • Fit your face in the circle, the first step is to get the distance right.
  • Follow instructions and look at the black circle around the camera, it will be complete when the distance is right.
  • Ensure nothing is covering parts of your face, like hats or bangs over your eyebrows.
  • Move your head slowly and only make small movements towards the purple color.
  • Keep a natural facial expression with your mouth closed and eyes open.

Add and verify phone number and/or email address

Enter your phone number and verify ownership by entering the verification code sent via SMS.

Enter your email address and verify ownership by entering the verification code sent to your email.

Share your data

The service you are interacting with will request certain data points from you. Before sharing your data, review the specific data points and understand the purpose for which the data will be shared.

Sign a document

If you are asked to sign a document, make sure to review it thoroughly before signing it with Truid. Also, review the user message and data that will be associated with your signature.

Exploring Truid?

You can, of course, download Truid even when not interacting with a service. Set up your vault and build your identity so you’re ready to use it when you interact with a service using Truid.

You can fill your vault with ID documents, email, phone number, and physical address.
